Student Peter putting club in the picture
Runcorn Weekly News
|April 17, 2025
A TALENTED photography student's passion for football and new-found love for his hometown non-league club came into sharp focus at a matchnight exhibition of his work.
Peter Cantwell, 21, joined Runcorn Linnets as a club cameraman in November as part of his university course.
Although his assignment has now officially ended, he has enjoyed his involvement with Linnets so much that he is staying on.
A small sample of his work, as part of a three-person team of dedicated volunteer photographers, went on show to supporters at the club's ground.
Titled Colours of the APEC, the small exhibition gave an insight into the sense of community at the fan-owned Pitching In Northern Premier League West club.
Runcorn-born Peter had lived in the town all his life before heading off to the University of Chester, where he is in the second year of three.
He is now dreaming of a career in football photography.
Peter said: "My interest in photography actually started from graphic design as I had studied graphic design since I was 13.
"The best way I can put it is through studying graphic design for 7 years, I found my love of photography.
"For one of my graphic projects at uni, I had to take my own photos with a camera and I've been in love with photography since!
