MEETING Paddington Bear in his homeland of Peru was among the many highlights for an intrepid group of young travellers from Widnes and Warrington.

Paddington takes his hat off to pupils who visit him in Peru

Thirty Year 5 and Year 6 children from Evelyn Street Primary Academy in Warrington and Ditton Primary Academy in Widnes spent a week in the South American country.

The visit was arranged through the Global School Alliance, an organisation that aims to build international links and friendships.

Thomas Paul, geography lead at Ditton Primary Academy, accompanied the children on their adventure, which supported the Upper Key Stage 2 Geography curriculum.

"The children had a blast," he said. "From first time flyers to well-travelled youngsters, all children immersed themselves in the culture and traditions of Peru.
