Fewer rounds of IVF on the cards

IVF services could be overhauled in the borough as part of new measures a cross Merseyside and Cheshire

WOMEN struggling to conceive could soon have just one round of fertility treatment funded by the NHS instead of three.

Halton and Warrington Borough residents are currently entitled to three free rounds of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment.

However, an NHS review of services provided across Merseyside and Cheshire could see that reduced to just one.

There is currently a variation in the number of free IVF treatments - known as cycles - provided by the NHS nationally.

In the areas covered by the NHS Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board (ICB), there are 10 separate policies.
