Duo battle marathon challenge for charity

TWO men endured the heat and crowds of the London Marathon to raise over £7,000 for cerebral palsy charity Stick ‘n’ Step, with the money still coming in.

Stick ‘n’ Step have thanked Chester Lions who kindly supplied the two places for the famous event.

One of the runners, Aidan Poland, who is a family friend of Sofia, aged seven from Stockport, who attends Stick ‘n’ Step's Runcorn centre, said: “I have to say thank you so much for the opportunity to run the London Marathon. It really is such a huge event, aside from the running, that took my breath away. To see it from the centre of the event is something I'll never forget.

“After 16 weeks of preparing for it, it's hard to believe it’s all done now. The heat was unrelenting and the advice from the organisers was that this wouldn't be the time and place for a personal best, ora fast time. So to finish is an achievement as there were so many who unfortunately failed due to medical issues.
