Sculpture idea is far from hare-brained!

A FASCINATING project has been announced to bring a sculpture back to Rawtenstall and make it a focal point of the Town Square.
-
The steel hare sculpture, 3.5m high, was outside the Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery for a number of months, and proved very popular, before going on tour in 2023.
Now it’s looking for a permanent home, with a proposal put forward to place it on the Town Square. It’s a brilliant idea - and one I sincerely hope happens.
In the meantime, questions continue to be raised about the other installation which has appeared on the Town Square in recent months - the new temporary market.
Borrowed from Ashton Market to house traders from Rawtenstall Market while the main market in town is revamped, traders were supposed to make the switch in March, according to Rossendale Council's website.
Yet here we are in June, with little sign of life around the temporary cabins, which look and feel as they did when they arrived - just plonked on the square.
