MP promises to take up firms' legislation fears

THE Rossendale and Darwen MP has promised to take the concerns of businesses over planned new legislation on workers’ rights to the government.

Andy MacNae was responding to an open letter from small firm bosses expressing their fears about the flagship the proposals.

But after meeting business leaders he said he remained convinced the new Employment Rights Bill would protect both workers and businesses from unfair competition from unscrupulous employers.

Last month a consortium of 14 Rossendale business leaders representing more than 1,500 jobs in the Valley have signed an open letter to him warning that they believe the bill could undermine economic growth in the region.
