Town's MP in call for 'accountability'

A LABOUR MP has called for 'proper accountability' for those who allowed the 'sickening' abuse of young girls to happen in Rochdale.
Responding to the conviction of seven men who groomed two girls and treated them like 'sex slaves', Rochdale MP Paul Waugh has repeated calls for an independent inquiry into child grooming gangs, which is now to be launched.
It follows a five-month trial which saw one of the defendants abscond and two jurors dismissed.
Mr Waugh - who has represented Rochdale in Parliament since July last year - paid tribute to the 'bravery' of the two victims involved.
The MP called for 'proper accountability,' including an independent inquiry with 'full statutory powers to force witnesses to appear.
