Rochdale roads with 11 speed cameras

ROCHDALE, home to two motorways and miles and miles of roads, is actually the Greater Manchester borough with the smallest number of speed cameras.

- BY ETHAN DAVIES

The borough has just 11 cameras, less than a fifth of Manchester's total of 57.

Across the region, more than 250 traffic cameras have been installed in Greater Manchester, and there are hundreds more ‘mobile locations’ where the police can enforce the limits temporarily.

However, speed limits in Rochdale have slowly been reduced on residential roads, starting in 2021, so drivers are capped at 20mph, not 30mph.

It means motorists still need to watch their speed, otherwise fixed speed cameras, average speed cameras and red traffic light cameras could catch them out. Now, we've used data from Greater Manchester's 10 councils to compile a list of every speed camera in the city-region.
