Kids showered with glass as stone dropped onto car
Rochdale Observer
|May 24, 2025
A MUM says she was showered with glass after a stone was dropped onto the windscreen of her car from a motorway bridge over the M62 near Rochdale.
Three children one a six month-old baby - were in the car at the time, but thankfully they all escaped unhurt. Ellishia Lord, 21, said both her and the older children were left shaken and in tears by the attack.
Images Ellishia has provided to the Observer show the huge crack in the car's windscreen and small glass fragments all over the seats.
She said they immediately alerted Greater Manchester Police from the hard shoulder after dialling 999 on the motorway.
As school half-term looms, Ellishia said: "People, especially kids, need to know the dangers of throwing stuff off bridges down onto motorways. I had glass all over me and it was terrifying."
Ellishia, from Linthwaite in Huddersfield, was a front seat passenger in a Cupra Formentor being driven by her partner, Daniel. The three children boys aged five, 11 and six months were in the back seats.
