A missed opportunity in retelling a heroic tale

THE movie tells the tale of real-life brave teenage warrior Hamir Gohi (played by Sooraj Pancholi) from a royal Rajput family, who died along with his small band of soldiers while defending the famous Somnath temple against Muslim invaders.

While his story has been carried through generations through folklore, director Prince Dhiman unfortunately over-glamourises it to merge fact and fiction.

While the presence of veterans Suniel Shetty as tribal leader Vegdaji, and Vivek Oberoi as the vicious and callous Tughlaq invader Zafar Khan, lend some credibility to the movie, Pancholi lacks the gravitas and screen presence to play the hero of the title.
