More to benefit from free childcare scheme

Around 2,700 children in Portsmouth could be eligible for 30 hours of free childcare under a new government scheme.

Working parents or guardians earning under £100,000 will be able to claim 30 hours of childcare for children aged nine months to four years.
Portsmouth Labour's analysis suggests up to 2,742 children could benefit when the scheme launches today.
Portsmouth South MP and Minister for Early Education Stephen Morgan said: “In just one year, Labour has begun to rebuild the education system from hiring thousands of teachers to providing free breakfasts and expanding school meals.
