Two injured: Cop subpoenaed in drunk driving investigation

A 46-year-old police officer stationed at Lebowakgomo has been subpoenaed to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate's Court in April 2026, following a drunk driving incident that left two young pedestrians injured in Westenburg earlier this month.
According to Limpopo police spokesperson Col Malesela Ledwaba, the officer was arrested on October 10 and charged with drunken driving and reckless and or negligent driving.
He was later released and issued a subpoena while DNA test results are pending as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident occurred on Missouri Street, Westenburg, where the man reportedly lost control of his vehicle and it veered onto the sidewalk, striking an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man.
