Former police officer remembered
Family and friends gathered in their numbers to say their final farewells this week to lifelong St Johnstone superfan Stewart Falconer who died after a courageous and lengthy battle against cancer on May 31, 2025.
A former police officer, the 72-year-old supported the club for over 60 years and was crowned Scottish Football Supporters' Association Fan of the Year in February.
His unique glass trophy recognised fans who go “above and beyond” to support their team.
Stewart was nominated for the award by Colin Mackay, co-ordinator with Saints' Fans Supporting Foodbanks.
It was on display at McDiarmid Park on Tuesday, where a large crowd gathered after a service of thanksgiving in Perth Crematorium.
Nearby was a Memory Table and book where people could record their personal reminiscences of Stewart, a lifelong season ticket holder, who died in Cornhill Macmillan Centre, surrounded by his family.
Among those present at the memorial service were St Johnstone legend Roddy Grant and Francis Smith who was appointed the new chief executive of the club in August of last year.
Also present was Chief Inspector Greg Burns, area commander for Perth and Kinross in the Tayside Division of Police Scotland.
