Plenty of action as club regatta got under way

Perth Sailing Club’s annual open regatta was held last weekend in conditions which showed much variety.

Saturday began with a very light breeze from the south west so a short course was set, two marks upriver and a third a little east of the club.

The wind was playing games however at times fading to almost nothing in places allowing Euan Macdonald's Aero to pull away well ahead heading for the third mark and starting a second round.

By the time the others were heading past the box for the third mark, the wind seemed even lighter and was now coming from the east so the race was shortened with average lap times being used to correct the results.

After a short break, the wind seemed to have stabilised to a light easterly so the course was reversed and the fleet, joined by another member who had mistimed arrival, set off downriver.
