Local health chiefs have said they will work with Perth and Kinross Council (PKC) as it draws up its latest Local Development Plan.

Local health chiefs have said they will work with Perth and Kinross Council (PKC) as it draws up its latest Local Development Plan.

The councils Local Development Plan sets out its vision, aims, and policies for land use and development and is used as the framework from which planning decisions are made, alongside the latest National Planning Framework.

Several councillors this week stressed the need to involve both NHS Tayside and Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) in discussions to ensure health services can cope with additional housing.

On Wednesday, May 28 PKC’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee approved the updated statutory Development Plan Scheme for the delivery of the latest Local Development Plan.

At the meeting, concerns raised following recent GP surgery and branch closures.

There are currently 23 GP practices in Perth and Kinross. Since 2019 two practices have closed - Bridge of Earn and Invergowrie - and three branch surgeries have closed in Bankfoot, Blair Atholl, and Methven.
