Striker glad he's playing WITH rather than AGAINST tough duo

- FRASER MACKIE

GULLAN SAVOURS SAINTS TOUGH NEW ADDITIONS

Jamie Gullan is relieved to see some of his toughest Championship opponents join him at St Johnstone.

The ex-Raith striker is one of five second-tier stalwarts recruited by Simo Valakari this summer.

Gullan is well-versed in the challenges of the Championship with Raith Rovers.

He played alongside fellow Saints new boys Sam Stanton and Reghan Tumilty in Kirkcaldy.

Gullan also knows Tumilty as an opponent along with ex-Morton centre-half pairing Jack Baird and Morgan Boyes.

The 25-year-old forward said: "I'm glad I am playing WITH Jack and Morgan now rather than against them!

"They are both aggressive, good in the air and worked well as a partnership last year.

"They're always tough to play against. I think it's good they're both here and know each other well.

"If they are a partnership, hopefully they will pick up where they left off. We had a few good battles last season and, to be fair, over the years.
