Drink driver was seen staggering

A woman smashed into a wall and another car so hard that she broke the drive shaft on her own vehicle.

Siobhan Petrie, 45, was almost eight times over the limit when she was stopped on another drunken driving escapade a few weeks later.

Glasgow University digital engagement officer Petrie was banned from driving for three years when she admitted both offences at Perth Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

She was also fined £1,050, ordered to carry out 120 hours unpaid work and placed under supervision for 12 months by Sheriff Derek Reekie.

Fiscal depute Nicola Caira told the court Petrie shot in reverse into a stone wall and damaged it before driving forward and smashing into a parked car.

Solicitor Jamie Baxter, defending, said: "These are two alcohol related offences in a short period of time. She doesn't have a great recollection.
