Sheriff orders owner fined and vicious pair destroyed

Dog killed in horrific mauling attack on the street

A pair of out of control dogs killed and injured other dogs and attacked a pensioner during a series of violent attacks within a few hours.

A sheriff this week ordered the destruction of 'banned breed' pit-bull type dogs Zeus and Kushka after ruling they continued to pose a danger to the public.

Owner Alistair Macdonald (29) was ordered to pay £1,500 compensation to the pensioner who was dragged to the ground by the snarling terriers.

Yvonne McPhee (71) told Perth Sheriff Court how she watched in horror as Kai, her Shih Tzu, was thrown about "like a ragdoll" by the two larger dogs.

"I have never experienced grief like it," she told a trial, prior to Macdonald changing his plea and admitting being the owner of out-of-control dogs.

Kushka and Zeus, along with an American Bulldog called Baxter, savaged Kai as she walked through Burns-Begg Street in Kinross on 20 October last year.

Ms McPhee previously told the trial she had collected Kai from kennels after returning from a business trip.

"This was his first walk in Kinross since I came back. Before I could turn around, both dogs locked onto Kai. Kai didn't even get a chance to bark," she said.
