Tributes to long-serving football figure remembered for six decades of service

It was only the pandemic which finally forced Rab to blow the final whistle on a lifelong passion.

Born in the Fair City, Rab was one of five children along with Tom, Ian, Stuart and Betty.

He attended Southern District, making friendships which lasted a lifetime, and football and table tennis were to become more than hobbies.

Rev Anne Redpath recalled that Rab had been a Scottish table tennis champion in his younger days.

His working life began as a message boy for McIntyre’s the bakers and after a spell with the railways, he moved into a sales role with Grant's the furniture store in Perth city centre.
