Teens reach new heights

They guide, mentor, and walk alongside the teens

For many teenagers in Westlake, a community tucked between the slopes of the Constantiaberg mountains, the towering silhouette of Table Mountain is a familiar part of the skyline. But for some, seeing it from afar was the closest they had ever come until now.

A group of high school learners experienced the iconic landmark up close for the first time, thanks to an educational outing organised by Future Sparks, an after-school programme that supports youth in Westlake.

"It was more than just a holiday outing," said Nomaphelo Magadla, programme coordinator. "For many of these learners, it was their first time on Table Mountain. You could see the excitement in their eyes; they were filled with wonder and curiosity. It's moments like these that remind us why this work matters."
