1000 PERFORMERS AND 10 FLOATS WILL LIGHT UP FAN WALK

- KAYLYNNE BANTOM

Cape Town based mural artist Rizah Potgieter's (also known as Prefix66) journey has always been about transforming struggle into expression and using art to reclaim space.

And on Saturday 21 March Potgieter will be one of 10 artists who will showcase and feature their talent during Cape Town Carnival in Green Point.

Over 1 000 performers and 10 floats will once again light up the Green Point Fan Walk for the 16th edition of the event.

"My creative roots come directly from hip-hop, graffiti, and the energy of Cape Town Street culture. My journey started on the streets, observing how colour, movement and rhythm can transform public spaces and give people a sense of identity.

Will Sona optimism translate to real change?

While President Cyril Ramaphosa spoke of a strengthening rand, falling inflation, and renewed investor confidence during his State of the Nation Address (Sona) at Cape Town City Hall on Thursday 12 February, many of us woke up the next morning to a far less reassuring reality: dry taps, rising living costs, unemployment queues, and neighbourhoods where safety cannot be taken for granted.
