UWS has no plans to demolish war memorial

The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) is seeking to reassure Buddies that it has no plans to remove a war memorial from its Thornly Park campus.

Fears were circulating in Paisley earlier this week that the monument erected to remember fallen soldiers was to be demolished.

Michael McCallum, who has adopted the war memorial after he found it covered in foliage in 2022, said he believed a firm had been contracted to pull the stone structure down.
