Services facing axe under plans

Controversial changes to a raft of support services in Renfrewshire were first mooted in June last year.

Cuts to and the complete closure of eight services were put forward by Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) in a bid to fill a funding gap of what was at that time £18.5m.
Six out of the eight areas identified for savings affect those with additional support needs.
While no decision was made on the plans, they are expected to be on the agenda when the Integrated Joint Board meets again in June.
No changes are expected to be made to the specific proposals previously set out, with the exception of Childsmile where a revised proposal will be submitted. However, this remains under review.
