Defeat in Dundee continues poor run for the Paisley men
Getting in front Mandron celebrates but Saints let it slip
St Mirren slumped to their sixth loss in seven Premiership games as Dundee eased the pressure on under-fire boss Steven Pressley.
A damaging defeat on Tayside saw the Dark Blues leapfrog the Buddies in the table with Kilmarnock's point at home to Dundee United sending Stephen Robinson's men into the relegation zone.
Mikael Mandron had opened the scoring midway through the first half, however, 10 minutes of madness saw Alex Gogic score an own goal with Drey Wright then putting Dundee in front with a sensational strike.
It was Joe Westley who made sure of the points in the closing stages which was the cue for the black-and-white army to head for the Dens Park exits.
Following weeks of VAR controversy, Saints' position in the standings looks bleak with the Premier Sports Cup Final against Celtic feeling a million miles away.
An important few days now lie ahead with the Buddies up at Aberdeen on Wednesday night before the visit of Dundee United next Saturday. Only then can attention turn to Hampden.
Robbo named the same lineup which lost in injury time to Celtic while Dundee made two changes to the side that went down to Hibernian with Ryan Astley and Westley in for Imari Samuels and Paul Digby.
