But weather-enforced call-off of Livingston match could be a blessing in disguise for Robinson's injury-hit St Mirren squad...

- COLIN PATERSON

St Mirren were put into the deep freeze yesterday after their Premiership clash with Livingston was claimed by the cold snap.

A frozen pitch at the Home of the Set Fare Arena in West Lothian saw last night's showdown bite the dust.

The artificial surface was unable to survive the plummeting temperatures which have impacted Scotland in recent days.

In some ways, a postponement was a blessing in disguise for the injury-hit Buddies who now have a free week ahead of Saturday's visit of Falkirk.

Boss Stephen Robinson will be hoping to get a bit more work done at the club's Ralston training ground following the 2-0 defeat to Motherwell at the weekend.

Off the pitch, Saints will continue to make moves in the market after the manager identified a need for five new arrivals this month.

The Northern Irishman would like to recruit a centre-back, two midfielders and two strikers during the winter transfer window.
