Plans submitted for multi-million pound extension at school

A decision on plans for a multi-million pound extension of Park Mains High School in Erskine is expected to be confirmed this year.

Renfrewshire Council recently submitted its bid for planning permission for the proposal to boost capacity at the facility in Barrhill Road.
The 400-pupil expansion is needed to meet an expected rise in numbers - largely linked to the growth of Bishopton's Dargavel Village - in the years ahead.
The local authority expects a decision on its application later this year and said the project “remains on track” to be complete in the summer of 2027.
That's according to a learning estate programme update included in a report to this Thursday’s education and children’s services policy board meeting.
It said: “The project is currently at the point of having a design that is coordinated from a structural and space perspective.
“The next step of the process is to add all elements of detail including mechanical and electrical services, finished and specialist subcontractor design input.
