BY PAISLEY AND RENFREWSHIRE SOUTH MP JOHANNA BAXTER

As the local MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South, I always look forward to meeting wonderful local businesses to see how I can best support and champion them to build good jobs across our community.

That's why I was proud to nominate the brilliant Paisley Pie Co. for the very first MP's Food and Drink Awards, hosted by the Food and Drink Federation.

Last week, I was delighted to join Scott McGinlay - the man behind the Paisley Pie Co. - and his lovely mum, Evelyn, down to parliament for the MP's Food and Drink Awards night celebration.

It was a welcome opportunity to showcase the very best of our community, and to spotlight the way in which food innovation based in local tradition, creativity, and true love for good food can be the culinary foundation for a local business that is more than capable of competing on the national stage.

Paisley Pie Co. proudly scooped the title of Scotland's winner.

The judges paid tribute to the company's ever-growing role in our local food scene, and in our wider local economy overall, whilst maintaining their dedication to quality ingredients and craftsmanship - and I have to say that I very much agree!

COMFORTABLY NOM, NOM, NOM

When it’s cold outside, I crave proper comfort food, so this week I'm cooking dishes to bring a little warmth and joy. Think rich one-tray dinners, hearty pies and slowly simmered dishes that fill the house with good smells and make the dark evenings feel brighter. These are recipes you don’t want to rush, perfect for settling in after a long day. Add a cosy pudding and you've got all you need for the week ahead.
