Our bus network is not fit for purpose

Since the Scottish Parliament went into recess, I've been spending a lot of my time out and about in the communities across West Scotland speaking to people about their issues and priorities.

Something that has come up time and time again in recent weeks is buses.

Multiple constituents from the village of Uplawmoor informed me that the local bus service has had numerous delays and cancellations - and that the bus times do not align properly with rail timetables in neighbouring Neilston and Barrhead.

Constituents in Lochwinnoch have expressed their concerns about the McGill's 307 service including buses not showing up on time, services being cancelled and buses even skipping stops.

This is very concerning, especially given that bus services are transport lifelines to rural villages like Uplawmoor and Lochwinnoch.

Without reliable services, residents who don’t own cars struggle to get from A to B.
