Hard work pays off for musicians

Last week, I had the pleasure to visit Loud n’ Proud studios which recently reopened after a fire tore through the building a few years ago.

Through tremendous work from Tommy McGrory and other volunteers, and with money provided by over 100 crowdfunders from the local community, Renfrewshire Council and many others, Tommy and his team have managed to not just rebuild the studio but to create a modern state-of-the-art space for music and learning.

Tommy gave me a tour of the newly-opened space, and I was amazed at the how well the volunteers had managed to turn around such a fire-damaged building. Smoke and fire had destroyed large parts of the building, rendering it unusable.

Most of the building had to be gutted, ripped back to the bare brick and then built back from there - rewired, replastered and repainted.
