Calls to go 'back to basics' in shake-up
Renfrewshire Council is “more concerned with issuing parking fines than tackling antisocial behaviour”, Labour representatives have warned.
Councillor Chris Gilmour and Neil Bibby MSP have lambasted the local authority for shutting its warden service at 7pm when they argue the vast majority of antisocial behaviour takes place after that time.
The pair have urged council chiefs to “get the basics right” as part of an ongoing workforce review and ensure the wardens workforce is reinstated in the evenings.
Both representatives want to see an increases service in the evenings and a greater focus on fly-tipping and dog fouling - issues they say constituents have raised concerns about.
Cllr Gilmour, Renfrewshire Labour's spokesperson for environmental services, told the Express: “People want to see the wardens service working for them, not just the council.
