Children praised for manners in positive inspection

Attainment in a Renfrewshire village primary school has been branded “good” following a recent inspection.

Education Scotland found that levels of achievement across the curriculum at Kilbarchan Primary were good - although a report said some children would benefit from greater levels of challenge.

Inspectors visited the Meadside Avenue campus in March and looked at two areas of school life which were raising attainment and learning, teaching and assessment.

Both areas were graded as good.

Inspectors found a nurturing environment in the school that ensured children were ready and willing to learn at the start of the school day.

Their report reads: “The acting head teacher and senior leadership team have led the creation of a positive, nurturing culture across the school.

“Staff work well together to ensure children learn in a caring and supportive environment.

“Children are confident and well-mannered.
