Charity aims to help OAPs before closure
Paisley Daily Express
|June 23, 2025
A much-loved Renfrewshire charity - forced to close as a result of a funding crisis - has this week said it is working to find alternative support for all of its clients.
Food Train, which delivered groceries to more than 100 people aged 65 and over, has ceased operations after its funding was withdrawn from Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).
With the charity's Renfrewshire branch now being wound down - with the loss of three jobs - its local team is working to ensure older people are being supported by supermarket deliveries, families or other services.
Food Train chief executive Rosie McLuskie said this work was being done before the complete closure of the service on June 30.
