Carers on strike today

Social care and housing support workers at Blue Triangle Housing Association in Paisley are taking strike action today.

Unison trade union said its members at the Argyle Street base are joining other staff in the nationwide walkout as part of the ongoing dispute over pay.

They are amongst care workers across 36 services and 12 local authorities taking part in the action, with carers saying their wages fail to reflect the skill, responsibility and emotional demands of their roles.

The strike coincides with today’s rise in the Real Living Wage, from £12.60 to £13.45.
