Better paid jobs for Renfrewshire

Iain's labour of love BY RENFREWSHIRE COUNCIL LABOUR GROUP LEADER IAIN MCMILLAN
I have said on many occasions in my articles that there needs to be more quality and well-paid jobs in this area.
That's why I am so pleased to hear that thousands of jobs have been secured on Clydeside to build ships for the Norwegian Navy.
While not in Renfrewshire, the shipyards are not far away and will provide plenty of jobs for Renfrewshire people.
What is particularly good to see is the number of young people recently taken on to serve apprenticeships on the Clyde.
It is great news for our area and well done to all those who worked so hard to ensure that the contract came to the Glasgow area.
The workers who travel to Glasgow for this work will no doubt be delighted to hear that train fares have been reduced with the removal of peak fares. I welcome this. As I have regularly said, I think we have been paying way over the odds for such things in Scotland for years.
The SNP have been in power for close to 20 years and housing is something which I believe they have failed miserably on.
