Children at a Renfrewshire nursery celebrated 100 per cent of families being registered with Renfrewshire Council's Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

- EMYLIE HOWIE

And in true Dolly fashion, youngsters at Houston early learning and childcare class (EL&CC) marked the occasion with a "hoe down" alongside an ultimate line dance.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library gifts high-quality books to kids aged from two to five.

The books are delivered directly to their homes each month.

The council's funding for the programme was made permanent in March which guarantees its long-term availability for Renfrewshire families, and supports early-years literacy in the community.

More than 150,000 books have been given out to Renfrewshire children since the scheme began four years ago.

Renfrewshire has funded the programme as part of its educational aim to inspire a lifelong love of reading in children and improve literacy.
