Upper age limit for govt jobs now 42

The state Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, approved five proposals, including the one to raise the upper age limit for various government services in Odisha to 42 years from the existing 32 years, Wednesday.

Briefing media, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said the state Cabinet has approved amendment to Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1989, extending the upper age limit for government jobs in Odisha to 42 years.

“As per the provisions under rule 2 of Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1989, the upper age limit for entry into government service is 32. Howev-er, numerous representations have been received from different quarters for enhancement of the upper age limit so as to enable overage aspirants to participate in the upcoming recruitment process,” Ahuja said.
