UGC fact-finding team begins probe

A four-member fact-finding team from the University Grants Commission (UGC) arrived in Balasore Friday to begin its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attempted self-immolation and subsequent death of Soumyashree Bisi, a second-year Integrated BEd student of Fakir Mohan (Autonomous) College.

Soumyashree, 20, sustained over 90 per cent burn injuries in an attempted self immolation July 12 on the college campus and later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar July 14.
