SC modifies ‘harsh’ stray dog ruling

The Supreme Court has revised its earlier directive on stray dogs, now ordering that dogs picked up from the streets in Delhi and surrounding areas be released after sterilisation and vaccination.

Earlier this month, the Court had mandated that all stray dogs in Delhi and its suburbs be relocated to shelters, following a rise in dog bite incidents and rabies cases. However, critics argued the plan was unfeasible due to a shortage of shelters. The ruling had sparked an outcry by animal lovers
