Op Sindoor magnifies dignity of vibrant red mark

At a time when India resonates with pride following the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, a precise military campaign launched in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam April 22, there is a feeling that the mission has enhanced the dignity of 'sindoor' - the traditional red mark worn by married Hindu women.

The Pahalgam attack claimed the lives of 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen. As a powerful retaliation, Indian Armed Forces launched a series of coordinated strikes on Pakistani terror camps on the night of May 6, delivering a strong message against terrorism. Patriotic fervour swept the country as citizens rallied to salute the armed forces. But beyond the strategic and military achievement, Operation Sindoor has ignited a deeply emotional response, especially among women. Orissa POST correspondent Manoj Kumar Jena spoke to a cross-section of people who see the operation as a defence of dignity symbolised by 'sindoor'.

Jyoti Maharana, a homemaker, said, "This mission has increased the value of our 'sindoor'. The terrorists mindlessly killed innocent people, but now they know the power behind that symbolism."
