25-ft croc in Gobari river sparks panic

Panic has gripped villagers in Kendrapara district after a giant crocodile, estimated to be more than 25 feet long, was sighted at Gobari Mouth-1, the inter-junction of Baulakani, Jambu and KB Dandua panchayats near the Mahakalapara Tini Muhani ferry ghat.
Locals said the crocodile has been swimming close to ferryboats, particularly during crossings, and has attacked goats, sheep, ducks and cattle along the riverbanks. Many villagers, who depend on fishing and crabbing in the Gobari river for their livelihood, have now stopped entering into the water out of fear.
