POST'S GUIDE TO HOW TO MISS THE ROADWORKS
PEOPLE of Nottingham and the wider county are accustomed to roadworks.
However, what perhaps makes the city unique is that, if one of the key arterial roads in and out of the city is blocked, the knock-on effect really is quite profound.
In February 2020, Nottingham was recognised as the most congested in the world due to the enforced closure of Clifton Bridge on the A52. Thankfully, the bridge has now reopened but it’s fair to say the city and county experiences its fair share of gridlock.
We regularly report on key highways improvement projects - and let you know about delays for motorists, holdups to public transport and how businesses are faring as a result of such work.
There are a number of key projects under way which are likely to cause disruption to commutes and day-to-day activities. From the A52 Derby Road resurfacing works to the new Maid Marian Way new T-junction in the city centre, there really is a lot going on.
Here, we take a look at some of the biggest roadwork projects and outline how traffic will be affected.
North Nottingham and Nottinghamshire
The A610 Nuthall Road resurfacing works are set to last around two months and will be carried out in seven phases. Southbound and northbound carriageways will be closed at different points during working hours.
During the first three phases of the works, which are currently ongoing, the focus is on the southbound carriageway before moving to the northbound from the end of July until August 20. The southbound carriageway roadworks will stretch from Western Boulevard to Llanberis Grove in the Basford area and the northbound carriageway resurfacing work will take place between Western Boulevard and Tyne Close.
The partial closure of Nuthall Road is likely to pose problems for those trying to reach the M1 at junction 26 or those coming from the M1 into the city.
