DEVELOPER REJECTS CLAIMS MADE BY RESIDENTS IN CONSULTATION

- By JOSHUA HARTLEY

VILLAGERS fear they may be turned into just another suburb by plans for hundreds of new homes.

Tollerton could soon grow by up to 200 houses.

Land promoter Richborough has submitted a planning application to Rushcliffe Borough Council to knock down barns and build up the new-build properties on farmland north of Burnside Grove.

This would fill in the 9.26 hectare space at the north of Tollerton's existing V-shape.

Richborough, which identifies potential housing sites and secures planning permission on behalf of landowners, said the scheme would be 45% affordable housing, create new public and children's play areas, and improve local highways.

But village residents consulted on the plan have raised concerns over how it could affect the character of their homes.

Homeowners say they are that worried the project would turn Tollerton into a suburban area and erode its "rural identity", according to Richborough's own consultation documents.
