Tasty wonders putting us on top of the pie chart!
Nottingham Post
|April 15, 2025
WE love a pie in Nottinghamshire. What's not to love about golden flaky pastry, with a hearty filling of steak and ale or chicken and mushroom?
It comes as no surprise that the county dominated Love Food’s list of pie perfection across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland - with one county shop ranked number one in the whole of the UK.
The pie chart - sorry, we couldn't resist - celebrates everything from hand-held pastries devoured on the go to pies eaten at the pub with buttery mash.
“The UK has an array of wonderful pies to try,’ the Love Food website said. “From no-frills local spots with a cult following to historic butchers’ shops and high-end restaurants, we've found the best pies in every region”
The 44-strong list is based on user reviews, awards and accolades. It includes four Notts pie-making supremos - more than any other region of the UK. Only North Yorkshire came close with three mentions, while the only other county to get recognition in our region was Leicestershire.
PROJECT PIES.
Coming in at number one in the UK is Carlton's Project Pies - which has featured in the Post's food stories many times.
