THE owners of the city's Debenhams building have been told they have an "unspoken contract" to do something positive with the building.

Nottingham City Council's deputy leader says the authority could put extra pressure on the owners of the Long Row site, nearly five years after it became vacant.

The Post is running a "Save the Debenhams Building" campaign, with civic experts and MPs saying the public "deserves answers".

The site was bought by Long Row Properties Limited in 2017, on the assumption that the store would provide a continuous income stream, a belief that proved shortlived when it closed in 2021.
