Starring role for Haynes as Notts keep their chances afloat

JACK Haynes starred with a century as Nottinghamshire kept their Metro Bank One Day Cup qualification chances alive with a comfortable run chase against winless defending champions Glamorgan at Cardiff.

The 24-year-old struck a well-timed 124 with some late acceleration to chase the subpar 278-9 set by the hosts.

Ben Slater and Haseeb Hameed played solid supporting roles, both scoring half-centuries, the latter combining with Haynes for a 141-run third-wicket stand as the Outlaws won by seven wickets.

Eddie Byrom notched up back-to-back half-centuries with 62 while Billy Root also passed 50 to hold together the Glamorgan innings.
