Solar farm plan approved despite fears for wildlife

COUNCILLORS have approved a controversial plan to build a major solar farm next to the M1.
The land, adjoining the Donington Park Services Area at junction 23a of the M1 in Castle Donington, is currently a haven for wildlife.
Moto, the owners of the services near East Midlands Airport, has been permitted to build 12,544 solar panels on the land.
The plan had been referred to the planning committee at North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) by Councillor Nick Rushton who was concerned about the loss of countryside.
