Serious fire risk is posed by dodgy e-bike batteries

CHRISTMAS shoppers have been warned against buying dodgy e-bikes or e-scooters that could burst into flames while charging.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Nottinghamshire County Council's trading standards department have asked people to carefully consider purchases so that gifts they buy this festive season do not cause a tragedy.

E-bikes and e-scooters, which contain lithium-ion batteries, have become a common cause of house fires in recent years.

As a result, the county's firefighters and consumer advocates have cautioned bargain-seeking shoppers to only buy from reputable sellers and to do their research before committing.
