While video games tend towards the action and adventure end of sci-fi, The Alters is part of this more cerebral heritage, referencing 2009's Moon and the more recent Mickey 17, where the conundrum of self-cloning raises many questions and problems.

Stranded on an inhospitable alien planet as the sole survivor of an expedition, you play as an unassuming man who has made questionable life choices and now has to find a way off the planet before the sunrise incinerates him.

Thankfully, planetary days are very long, giving you time to explore and search for resources to fix up the mobile base that has become your home and get it moving.
