Road where speeding is so bad that residents are selling their homes

CAMPAIGNER HAS COUNTED MORE THAN 70 CRASHES IN FIVE YEARS
NICK Cox had only just woken up when he noticed one of his car's wheels was missing, ripped out along with the mudguard, the debris of which was scattered for metres up the road.
He had somehow slept through a high-speed crash, in which a driver collided with his parked Hyundai while being pursued by police at around 1.20am on Wednesday.
After being woken by a neighbour, a bleary-eyed Mr Cox soon realised his car was a “total write-off”.
While understandably left frustrated, the 42-year-old IT worker wasn't too surprised.
It is the latest in a long line of crashes in Carlton Road, one of the busiest routes in and out of Nottingham.
Residents near the Porchester Road junction have tallied up more than 70 separate crashes along the entire stretch of the B686 in recent years.
Some have been calling for Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire Police to do something about the problem for years.
While Mr Cox admits that better signs might not have deterred the driver on this occasion, he said he witnesses speeding every day.
