ROLL OF HONOUR BEING COMPILED BEFORE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF SECOND WORLD WAR

- By OLIVER PRIDMORE

Race to make sure county's war memories are not lost

THE race is on to ensure that Nottinghamshire's Second World War stories are not lost before the centenary of the conflict is marked.

Volunteers are urging people across the city and county to get in touch with any details, pictures and memories they have of their ancestors who lost their lives in the 1939-1945 conflict.

An army of volunteers led by Dr David Nunn previously collated an official Roll of Honour to commemorate those from Nottinghamshire who lost their lives in the First World War. Previously, there had been no comprehensive record of everyone from the county who had died in the conflict, with names instead scattered across physical memorials and local press clippings from the time.
